Privacy Policy

What personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

This policy covers Skills Marketing's own website and how we handle personal data from visitors, enquirers, and clients. It doesn't constitute legal advice, and if you have specific concerns about your own data, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.

Who we are

Skills Marketing is a marketing agency for training providers and apprenticeship providers, operating skillsmarketing.co.uk. For any privacy query, contact hello@skillsmarketing.co.uk.

What we collect

  • Contact form submissions: name, email address, and whatever you tell us in your message, collected when you submit our contact form.
  • Live chat: your name and email if you provide them in a chat, the content of the conversation, and general engagement data about your visit, through Zoho SalesIQ.
  • Site usage data: pages viewed, general location, device and browser type, through Google Analytics, only where you've consented. See our Cookie Policy for the specifics.
  • Client and prospect information: where we're actively working with or for a training provider, we hold the business contact details, campaign materials, and account information needed to deliver that work.

How we use it

To respond to enquiries and provide live chat support, to understand how the site is used so we can improve it, and to deliver the marketing services a client has engaged us for.

Who we share it with

We don't sell personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do share it in the following situations:

  • Service providers we rely on to run the business: Zoho, for our contact form, live chat, and CRM, and Google, for analytics and tag management. These providers process data on our behalf under their own data processing terms.
  • Approved freelancers and subcontractors: Skills Marketing works with a network of vetted freelance specialists, designers, writers, paid media and SEO specialists, and others, to deliver client work. Where this is necessary, they may access the specific client or prospect information relevant to their part of a project. Everyone we work with is bound by confidentiality obligations, and access is limited to what's genuinely needed for their role, not the full client account.
  • Legal or regulatory reasons: if we're required to disclose information by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on their own data protection safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to ensure your data remains appropriately protected.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and chat data for as long as it's useful for the purpose it was collected for, and no longer than necessary. Client account data is retained for the duration of the working relationship and for a reasonable period afterwards, generally in line with standard UK tax and accounting record-keeping requirements.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request corrections, request deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, and request a copy of your data in a portable format. Contact us to exercise any of these rights, and you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.

Children

Our services are aimed at businesses, not children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 through this site.
